Great Food Destinations Around the World

The world is full of food, riches, and exquisite meals. No matter where you go, you will find something delicious, healthy, appetizing, or all three. In most cases, you will also encounter something you didn’t expect, a fulfilling experience that leaves you with wonderful, long-lasting memories.

Of course, choosing only a few places would be an act of injustice towards the many others that deserve to be on this list. But there is limited space and a limited number of characters in every article, so choices had to be made, and amazing destinations had to be cut.

In any case, the ones that made the list are amazing, not only in terms of food but also as a holiday destination in general.

So, read along, pack your bags, visit the dentist for a general health check or have your wisdom teeth removed if you need to, and get ready to eat!

Japan

No food list would be appropriate without having Japan in it. Along with its state-of-the-art technology, beautiful cherry blossoms, and ancient history, Japan boasts one of the largest varieties of food in the world. And we are not talking about well-known dishes like sushi, tempura, or ramen. Even if these and others are very famous, there is much more to choose from.

For instance, you could try some Shabu-Shabu in one of the many eateries cities like Tokyo and Osaka have to offer. And if you head north to the island of Hokkaido, you can indulge in a bowl of Ishikari Nabe, a traditional Winter Japanese hotpot.

Argentina

We now move to a country far away from Asia, all the way down in South America. On an interesting note, there are no direct flights from Tokyo to Buenos Aires, and the shortest one takes around 30 hours.

But, moving along, the Argentine Republic is famous for many things. Among them are its breathtaking natural landscapes, the sensual dance of tango, a long-list of incredible soccer players, and the Argentinean Steak.

Whether you are in Paris, New York City, or Dubai, few places will rival the quality and tradition of a juicy, grass-fed Argentinean piece of meat.

Brazil

We currently find ourselves in South America, so we might as well stay here a bit longer and explore one more country on the continent.

Whether you have seen it live or on television, there is no denying that the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is one of the greatest spectacles in the world. It is also a clear example of a term that could describe most Brazilians, and that is passionate. Brazilians are passionate about their football teams, their politics, and of course, their food.

Why not dance for a few hours while sharing a few caipirinhas with your mates? They will surely give you that fiery kick you need to party ’til the sunrise.

America

America, are you serious? Is there anything to eat in the United States aside from hamburgers, hot dogs, and fries? Well, you might be surprised that the land of freedom and opportunity possesses one of the most varied food cultures in the world.

You could head to the windy city of Chicago and grab a slice of a Chicago-style deep-dish pizza or travel all the way to Alaska for some wild salmon. And if desserts are what you are into, there are plenty of options to choose from. Some of the most common ones include peach cobblers, apple pie, carrot cakes, Boston cream pies, and banana puddings.

Ethiopia

For reasons unknown to many, the northeastern African country of Ethiopia has some of the best runners in the world. Since the Olympic Games in 1960 in Rome, no other nation has won more gold, silver, and bronze medals in arduous, long-distance events like the marathon, the 10,000 meters, and the 3,000 meters steeplechase.

Perhaps the secret is their food. That is what keeps them strong, lean, and full of energy.

Among African nations, Ethiopia is known for its wonderful Tibs or sauteed meat chunks, its coffee, and its Doro Wat, or chicken stew. These and others make part of a protein-based, healthy diet that keeps Ethiopians not only vigorous but also happy and entertained.

If you want to try some of the best dishes mother earth has to offer, you should visit Japan, Argentina, Brazil, the United States, and Ethiopia. Other countries not in this list but also worth mentioning are Thailand and Indonesia in Asia, Mexico and Colombia in the Americas, France and Italy in Europe, and South Africa.

Few things are more interesting in life than trying different foods. They are part of a country’s culture and history. As such, all of them are worth trying at least once in your life.
